09 May Notice of Public Hearing – June 6th at 6:30 pm
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
To All Marquette Charter Township Taxpayers
On Tuesday, June 6, 2017 the Marquette Charter Township Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing beginning at 6:30pm at the Township Hall located at 1000 Commerce Drive, Marquette, Michigan, to address whether it will increase the current 2.5 mill special assessment for Fire Prevention and Protection by 0.15 to 0.25 mill to not more than 2.75 mills for the year 2018 only, for the purpose of acquiring an ambulance to expand BLS emergency services to include ambulance transport for the residents of the Township in accordance with and restricted by the provisions of Act 33 of the Public Acts of 1951, as amended. The Fire and Rescue Department currently provides emergency BLS primary response and treatment on scene, but does not currently have transport capability.
By example, a property valued at $200,000 would have a taxable value of $100,000, and see an increase to the special assessment of between $15.00 and $25.00 for the one year. This is a special assessment paid by all township taxpayers to support our Fire and Rescue Department operations. The Special Assessment would revert back to 2.5 mills as of January 2019.
You are requested to attend this public hearing and voi8ce your support or opposition regarding consideration of this Special Assessment amendment.
